"The biggest obstacle to curing EB isn’t science — it’s funding"

Introducing our official charity partner for 2022 - EB Research (Australia)

Part of a worldwide not-for-profit network dedicated to the research of a cure for Epidermolysis Bullosa, a family of life-threatening rare genetic disorders that affect the body’s largest organ: the skin, EB Research (Australia) is dedicated to finding a cure through dedicated research. It all began in 2011, When Tilly Wilkes was born with Epidermolysis Bullosa in Melbourne. The Wilkes family had never heard of Epidermolysis Bullosa and to learn of the painful and cruel life their daughter was about to face was devastating. Once they adjusted to taking care of Tilly and learning to bathe and bandage their newborn’s open wounds, they accepted the fact that Tilly’s condition wasn’t curable, and they were inspired to create awareness amongst their wide network.

From there, EB Research (Australia) has grown into the massive network it is today. With ambassadors on board such as motocross legend Cam Sinclair, they have worked tirelessly to raise awareness about EB and fought to find a cure for the last 10 years. With a cure in sight, we are ecstatic to have formed this partnership and be an integral part of making the cure for EB a reality!

Affecting primarily children, we are inspired by their resilience, drive, and optimism in the light of such an intensive condition at such a young age. Linked by passion and fighting spirit, The GOAT and EB Research (Australia) both share a mutual respect for the dedication and drive of individuals when overcoming major physical hurdles, be it athletic or physical. We are honoured to work alongside EB Research for the GOAT 2022 and to be a part of their profound impact on so many lives.
