This is the MTB stage race the High Country has been waiting for: 4 days of riding, eating, and drinking across a variety of locations.

If you’re a mountain biker, this is the best way to experience the region this summer. We may be biased, but High Country Victoria is a special place; with endless hills and spectacular views surrounding our charming Alpine towns, it’s little wonder thousands of two-wheeled tourists flock here every summer. The GOAT race will make use of these qualities, all within a fun and inclusive event.

Utilising the key trail networks of Yackandandah, Mount Beauty, and Bright, The GOAT will pass through several iconic towns. Renowned for its food, wine, and beers, this journey through the High Country will be equal parts holiday and racing. A festival atmosphere awaits you at each finish line, ready to reward your hard work with local produce to share with friends.

Note, this is no ordinary MTB stage race. With descents as epic as the climbs, there are multiple categories to choose from, depending on your strengths and equipment. XC, gravity, and e-bike riders will all have an opportunity to shine at the GOAT. XC and E-GOATs will race a classic point-to-point format, while Gravity GOATs will be timed on the descents. All categories will ride the same course, beginning in separate waves, and finishing with the same stoke and satisfaction.

Kids are also welcome at the event, with a separate Billy GOAT category. During the weekend, they’ll participate in skills clinics run by the PMBIA-certified coaches at Gravity Oz Mountain Biking. This is open to all kids aged 2-12, and provides a safe and fun environment in which to improve MTB technique while making new friends.

With COVID restrictions easing and borders reopening, now is the time to plan your summer adventure in the High Country. The GOAT provides the perfect opportunity to do so, with 4 days of pedalling and partying. It’s been a while since any of us have raced, so gather your mates and start training!
